The CNIL

The Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL) supervises the implementation of the January 6, 1978 Act, as amended by the August 6, 2004 Act relating to “information technology, files and liberties” called “loi informatique et libertés”. CNIL’s general mission consists in ensuring that the development of information technology remains at the service of citizens and does not breach human identity, human rights, privacy or personal or public liberties.
